3 Questions to Ask In An Interview
Have you ever walked away from an interview feeling like you’re definitely not getting the job?
That’s tough to go through, but an easy way to avoid that feeling is by asking the interviewer questions at the end of your interview.
But before we dive in, let’s talk about why you should ask questions in the first place.
Asking questions before the end of the interview makes you stand out as a qualified and serious candidate and helps the interviewer remember you. It also highlights you as someone who wants to make a good decision regarding their career – hence why you are asking questions.
Most interviewers will end the interview with “Do you have any questions for me?” and instead of replying with “no, not really”, try asking these three questions.
Question 1: What do the most successful people who work in the company do differently than everyone else?
This question tells the interviewer that you are willing to do things differently than other employees and will give you insight on what you need to do to be successful in your new role.
Question 2: What would you say is a common skillset or attribute that everyone in your company shares?
This helps you build a better understanding of what are truly important to the role and company culture.
Question 3: What are the next steps in the hiring process, and do you mind if I email you for a follow up within a week?
Letting the interviewer know that you are planning to follow up after the interview highlights you as a serious candidate and ensures that you will be quickly notified if you get the position.
You’ll get an overall vision on the company culture and what they classify as “successful”, which will help you decide if you truly want the job, and help you fit in with the team when you do get hired.
