Direct Advice For Women In Cannabis

Q: How do you foster a supportive network of professionals within the cannabis community, particularly for women?

At Marigold PR, we believe in championing each other and fostering an environment focused on growth and empowerment. Building a network of like-minded individuals committed to uplifting each other has been instrumental in our success. We understand the importance of networking and nurturing relationships, especially in the cannabis industry. This commitment extends beyond our agency to our partners and collaborators who share our vision of inclusivity.

That's why we're proud to announce the launch of Radicle Femmes, a women in cannabis networking event, which will take place on March 8th in Toronto, ON. Radicle Femmes is more than just a gathering—it's a platform for women to connect, collaborate, and celebrate each other's achievements. Through initiatives like Radicle Femmes and our ongoing efforts to promote diversity and inclusion, we're paving the way for a more equitable and supportive cannabis community.

Q: How do you navigate the challenges of complying with cannabis regulations while fostering innovation within your business?

We understand the importance of adhering to regulations while also driving innovation and pushing boundaries in the industry.

At Marigold, we approach compliance creatively, constantly seeking new ways to operate within the framework of regulations while still delivering impactful results for our clients through traditional PR and media relations, events, and community building.

As the cannabis industry evolves, so do our services. We are constantly adapting and refining our approach to ensure that we can meet the needs of our clients in an ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Q: How do you prioritize your own personal and professional growth as a leader in the cannabis industry?

With over 7 years of experience in the cannabis industry, I understand that each year brings new challenges and opportunities for learning and growth.

I actively seek out opportunities whether it's through attending industry conferences or participating in educational programs. I also recognize the importance of learning from those around me. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by a talented team at Marigold PR, and I am constantly learning from their expertise and insights. Our clients are also valuable sources of knowledge and perspective, and I actively seek out opportunities to learn from their experiences and challenges.

When you prioritize your own personal and professional growth, you are better equipped to lead and drive positive change within your organization and the broader community.

Q: What advice do you have for women aspiring to leadership roles in the cannabis industry?

For women aspiring to leadership roles in the cannabis industry, my advice stems from a place of realism and optimism. It's important to acknowledge that the cannabis industry isn't for everyone. It requires resilience, determination, and a willingness to navigate through challenges. However, I firmly believe that women possess these qualities just as much as anyone else.

One crucial piece of advice is to thoroughly research and evaluate potential employers or business partners. Look for companies whose values align with your own and where your work ethic will be recognized and rewarded. The cannabis industry is still relatively young and evolving rapidly, so finding the right fit can make a significant difference in your career trajectory.

Lastly, I encourage women to seize the opportunities that the cannabis industry presents. Despite its challenges, incredible companies and opportunities are emerging in this space. As the industry continues to mature and stabilize, there will be more reliable and lucrative career paths available. I am hopeful to see more women stepping into leadership roles and making their mark on the cannabis industry.

Q: Lastly, what trends do you think the cannabis industry will experience in 2024? Do you have any upcoming projects you would like to share?

Looking ahead to 2024, the Canadian cannabis industry is likely to continue experiencing a period of shakeout and consolidation. We can anticipate more companies exiting the market or facing closure, while key players and brands that have demonstrated resilience and adaptability will thrive amidst the challenges. While the road ahead may still be bumpy, I believe we are moving closer to a smoother path as the industry matures and stabilizes.

In terms of upcoming projects, I'm excited to share two initiatives that are close to my heart. Firstly, Radicle Femmes, our women in cannabis networking event, which will be taking place on March 8th in Toronto, ON with powerhouse speakers and valuable networking sessions. Additionally, Tether will be celebrating the third annual Budtender Appreciation Week from March 24-31, 2024 with both in-person and virtual events across Canada. Budtenders play a crucial role in educating consumers and shaping their cannabis experiences, and it's important to acknowledge and appreciate their efforts.
